Can I transfer between my individual Cash Reserve and joint Cash Reserve accounts?

You can transfer between your joint and individual Cash Reserve accounts up to 5 times per day. Your funds are generally available same-day, but sometimes may take longer, particularly if you have recently deposited funds into your Cash Reserve account.

Note that bank holidays do not count as business days. You can see a list of bank holidays here.

Transaction Timeline Table

To transfer between Cash Reserve accounts:

Web browser:

  1. Log into Betterment.
  2. Click “Transfer or Rollover” in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. From the drop-down menu, choose “Transfer within”.
  4. Select your source and destination accounts, then enter the amount.
  5. Review your transfer request and submit.

Mobile app:

  1. Log in.
  2. On the home page, select your source account for the transfer.
  3. Tap “Transfer”, then “Transfer within Betterment”.
  4. Select your destination account and enter the amount.
  5. Review the transfer details and submit.
