Account numbers can refer to different things depending on the context.
New Payroll Integration
Some payroll providers request your Betterment account number for their internal setup. If that’s what you need, please email your Betterment support contact and include the name of the new payroll provider.
IRS Account Number
If you’re looking for your IRS plan number, you can find it in your plan’s adoption agreement. In most cases, the plan number is 001 (which typically indicates your first 401(k) plan filed with the IRS), but you should confirm this in the agreement.
Third-Party Custody Integration
If you need a plan ID for a third-party custody integration, please reach out to your Betterment contact. Their information is available in the plan sponsor dashboard under Resources > Support.
