About Betterment’s Ambassador Relationships
Drake Maye, Ann Michael Maye, Arike Ogunbowale, Michael Thorbjornsen and Jackson Koivun are promoters who are paid by Betterment. Each is compensated a flat fee of up to $143k per advertisement and up to $10k annually for expenses. Jackson is also eligible for up to $300k per tournament milestone. Carli Lloyd was compensated through June 30, 2025. Ambassadors have applicable management fees waived up to $1M for the duration of their contract. Drake, Arike, Michael, and Carli were also given a one-time bonus of $1k.
Joanne Chang represents Flour Bakery and is a promoter who is paid by Betterment. She is compensated a one-time fee of up to $35k.
Heidi Zak is a promoter. Decha Brooks was compensated through June 30, 2026. Their companies' plans each received a discount of up to $7.5k to offset future service fees.
Derek Tharp is a promoter. Betterment covered his travel and accommodations and provides him with client referrals.
Due to compensation received, the ambassadors have an incentive to recommend Betterment, which is a conflict of interest. Investing involves risk, and there is the potential of losing money when you invest in securities. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
