Betterment Plus Terms and Conditions

Updated October 27, 2026

These terms and conditions govern Betterment Plus (“Betterment Plus”), a set of additional advisory services and features made available by Betterment LLC (together with its affiliates, “Betterment”) to eligible Betterment retail clients who maintain a Qualifying Household Balance, as described below. Betterment Plus is not a separate investment advisory service, brokerage account, or product, and does not create a new fee. These Terms and Conditions supplement the Betterment Client Agreements and other terms that apply to your Betterment accounts and services (collectively, the “Client Agreements”). If these Terms and Conditions conflict with the Client Agreements, the Client Agreements control unless these Terms and Conditions expressly state otherwise.

By receiving or using Betterment Plus benefits, you acknowledge that you agree to the Betterment Plus Terms and Conditions.

1. Summary

Betterment Plus is only available to Clients who have agreed to the Betterment Client Agreements and who meet the Qualifying Household Balance requirement described in Section 4 below.

2. Betterment Plus Services

Licensed Concierge Access

Clients who qualify for Betterment Plus will receive priority access to Betterment’s Licensed Concierge team, which provide non-discretionary investment advisory services by chat, email, telephone, or video conference. Licensed Concierge specialists provide guidance on a client’s goals, portfolio strategy selections, asset allocations, and certain related financial matters and, with the client’s authorization, assist with implementing certain account changes, including modifying goals, investment strategies, asset allocations, certain self-directed holdings and automated features, setting an annual realized gains allowance, and implementing tax-aware migration strategies. Licensed Concierge specialists are not attorneys, accountants, or tax professionals, and services provided through Licensed Concierge do not constitute legal, tax, or accounting advice.

Any services provided through Betterment Plus, including investment advice, are based on information you provide to Betterment. Betterment, including any licensed specialists, rely on that information and do not independently verify it. If you provide inaccurate or incomplete information, the services you receive through Betterment Plus will be inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise not match your needs.

3. Betterment Plus Additional Benefits

Eligible clients receive the following benefits, subject to availability, applicable account terms, and any additional disclosures:

Prioritized Client Support

Betterment Plus clients will receive priority client service support across Betterment’s phone, email, and support channels. There is no guarantee that a response can be made within a specific timeframe, especially in response to complex matters, matters requiring additional information or third-party action, major market events, system interruptions, or similar circumstances. Customer support associates are available to assist with questions about how Betterment works or to help with your account, but are not investment adviser representatives and are not licensed to give financial advice.

Exclusive Content and Events

Betterment Plus clients can receive access to exclusive content and events, including question-and-answer sessions and webinars. Betterment can change the content, frequency, format, presenters, or availability of these offerings in its discretion.

Fee-free Money Movement

Betterment Plus clients are eligible to receive benefits relating to transfers of funds into or out of the Betterment platform.

Instant withdrawals. Betterment Plus qualifying clients can make instant withdrawals of funds from their Cash Reserve account to an eligible linked third-party checking account, subject to the limits, eligibility requirements, and processing procedures applicable to the relevant account or transfer service. Instant withdrawals are a faster way to move money, usually completing in minutes instead of days, and are facilitated through real-time payment networks such as The Clearing House’s RTP® network or the Federal Reserve’s FedNow® Service (each an “Instant Payment Network”). For Betterment Plus clients, Betterment Securities waives the fee it typically charges to facilitate instant withdrawals. Instant withdrawals are unavailable if you have made a recent deposit or transfer in your account, or if you have an outstanding balance drawn on a Securities-Backed Line of Credit (SBLOC) held on the Betterment platform. Instant withdrawals are also only available from Cash Reserve to an eligible linked external checking account at a receiving institution that supports instant payments, and are subject to transaction limits, account verification, and operational reviews at the time of each request. Please refer to the Instant Withdrawals and Same-day Transfers Terms & Conditions for more information.

Inbound and Outbound ACAT Fee Reimbursement. For eligible Automated Customer Account Transfers (ACATs) of assets onto the Betterment platform initiated after October 27, 2026, Betterment will, upon client request, reimburse the fee charged by the transferring institution, up to a maximum of $100, for each transfer of $7500 or greater. To request reimbursement, you must submit to Betterment Support a clear copy or photograph of the fee receipt within three months after the fee has been charged. We will review a complete request and, if approved, process the reimbursement, generally within five business days. Reimbursement generally is provided in the form of an account credit, is subject to verification, and Betterment reserves the right to deny reimbursement if the request is incomplete, untimely, duplicative, flagged as fraudulent, or otherwise inconsistent with these Terms and Conditions. Timing and reimbursement of ACATs transfers is subject to the Terms and Conditions for Inbound ACATS Transfers.

Betterment will also waive or reimburse its $75 outgoing ACAT fee for an eligible transfer if the transfer results in an ending Household balance of at least $250,000. We will generally process an approved reimbursement within five business days. Other fees charged by another financial institution receiving the ACAT are not covered by this benefit. For the avoidance of doubt, satisfaction of outbound ACATS transfers is subject to the Transfer of Assets paragraph of the Betterment Client Agreements.

Securities-Backed Lines of Credit

Betterment Plus clients are eligible to apply for a securities-backed line of credit (“SBLOC”) offered by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. (“Bancorp”), subject to Bancorp’s credit approval, underwriting, and applicable loan terms. Neither Betterment nor Betterment Securities is the lender, originator, or issuer of an SBLOC. An SBLOC is a non-purpose loan secured by eligible assets in a Betterment account and may not be appropriate for everyone; pledged assets are subject to maintenance requirements, forced liquidation, limitations on transfers of funds, or other risks or limitations. Betterment receives compensation from Bancorp based on outstanding SBLOC balances, which creates a financial incentive for Betterment to offer the program. Additional terms and disclosures apply.

Other Third-Party Benefits

Betterment Plus clients have access to discounts or other offers from third parties, including discounted mortgage costs through Rate.com and discounted estate-planning services through Trust & Will. These services are provided solely by the applicable third party, not by Betterment. Third-party eligibility requirements, pricing, terms, privacy practices, and availability apply. Betterment does not provide legal, tax, mortgage, or estate-planning advice through these offers, and a discount or referral is not an endorsement or guarantee of a third party’s services.

Estate Planning Discount via Trust & Will. Eligible Betterment Plus clients can receive a 20% discount on estate planning services through Betterment’s third-party partner, Huge Legal Technology Company, Inc. d/b/a Trust & Will (“Trust & Will”). In order to receive the discount, you must elect to receive estate planning services through Betterment’s referral link. Trust & Will is not an affiliate of Betterment, and Betterment does not receive compensation when you elect to receive services from Trust & Will. Estate planning laws vary by state, and you should consider your personal situation and read all relevant terms and conditions before electing to receive estate planning services. Information that you provide to Trust & Will in connection with estate planning services will not be incorporated into your Betterment account(s) unless you provide Betterment with such information.

Mortgage Discount Offer via Rate.com. Eligible Betterment Plus clients receive access to discounted mortgage pricing through Betterment’s partnership with Rate.com. Eligible borrowers can receive up to a 0.75% mortgage interest-rate discount and $500 off closing costs when purchasing a new home, or a waived lender fee when refinancing, subject to Rate’s eligibility requirements, underwriting, loan-product restrictions, and applicable terms. Betterment is not a mortgage lender or broker, and Rate is solely responsible for mortgage applications, approvals, final pricing, and loan terms; the promotion is available only through the Betterment partnership and is subject to change or termination without notice.

Subject to Change

The benefits that Betterment makes available to Betterment Plus clients are subject to change. Betterment can modify the benefits described in this Section 3 at any time upon notice to you, as described in Section 7.

4. Eligibility and Fees

Qualifying Household Balance and Enrollment

Betterment Plus is available to eligible retail clients whose total Betterment household balance is $250,000 or more (the “Qualifying Household Balance”). There is no application, enrollment step, or separate fee for Betterment Plus. You will be automatically moved into the Betterment Plus experience after your Qualifying Household Balance reaches the threshold, subject to the Betterment Plus Terms and Conditions and the Betterment Client Agreements.

For purposes of determining the Qualifying Household Balance, Betterment will aggregate the balances of clients treated as a single household under the Client Agreements (a “Household”). A Qualifying Household Balance includes balances in taxable investing accounts, IRAs, self-directed investing accounts (SDI), Solo 401(k) accounts, crypto accounts, HSAs, Cash Reserve, and employer-sponsored 401(k) accounts held at Betterment. Betterment can modify the eligible categories of accounts and balances at any time in its sole discretion. Betterment may, in its sole discretion, reduce or waive the Qualifying Household Balance requirement.

Betterment Plus is not currently available to advised clients advised by a third-party advisor on the Betterment for Advisors platform, nor Betterment clients whose only Betterment relationship is as a participant in an employer-sponsored 401(k) plan. Betterment can limit availability of Betterment Plus in its discretion.

Maintaining Eligibility; Leaving Betterment Plus

Betterment periodically reviews Household balances, and reserves the right to downgrade clients out of Betterment Plus to the applicable baseline digital experience if you do not maintain the Qualifying Household Balance.

If you are also receiving Betterment Premium, reaching the Betterment Plus threshold does not change your Premium plan. You will continue to receive Premium Services under the Premium Services Terms & Conditions, and Betterment Plus benefits will be provided in addition to Premium benefits, subject to these Terms and Conditions. If you cease to qualify for Betterment Plus, your Premium eligibility and benefits will be determined separately under the Premium Services Terms & Conditions.

Fees

There is no separate or additional fee for Betterment Plus. Fees for your Betterment accounts and services continue to be governed by the Client Agreements, including the Betterment LLC Advisory Agreement Wrap Fee Schedule. If you also receive Premium Services, the fees described in the Premium Services Terms & Conditions continue to apply. Betterment may, from time to time, offer fee reductions or waivers as it deems appropriate, in its sole discretion, and reserves the right to terminate or limit any fee waiver, and to refuse or recover any fee waiver as described in Section 7.

5. Limitations

You acknowledge that Betterment’s licensed specialists and customer support associates are not attorneys, accountants, or tax professionals, and no information or advice given to you through Betterment Plus should be interpreted as legal, accounting, or tax advice.

You explicitly authorize Betterment to communicate any and all information regarding any of Betterment’s services, including your account(s), to or through Betterment’s licensed specialists and customer support associates, including, but not limited to, any documentation you provide to Betterment or Betterment Securities. Because eligibility for Betterment Plus is determined on a Household basis, you acknowledge and agree that personal data regarding your Betterment account(s) can be shared with other members of your Household, including through communications regarding your Household’s eligibility for Betterment Plus and through conversations between such other members and Betterment’s licensed specialists or customer support associates.

6. Conflicts of Interest

Betterment has a financial incentive to provide additional services and offers to Betterment Plus clients because those clients maintain a Qualifying Household Balance, upon which Betterment’s fees are based. Betterment and its affiliates can also be incentivized to offer, promote, or highlight additional products, services, account types, transfer options, or third-party benefits to clients to encourage further asset consolidation. Betterment addresses this conflict by not requiring clients to move or retain assets at Betterment, open any account, use any benefit, or purchase any product or service to receive advice or support otherwise available under your Client Agreements. Please review our Form ADV and Form CRS for additional information about how Betterment addresses its financial incentives.

7. Changes to Program; General Terms

Betterment reserves the right to modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue Betterment Plus or any benefit at any time upon notice to you, including by posting updated terms on the Betterment website, displaying information in the Betterment interface, or communicating with you electronically. Changes could include changes to eligibility thresholds, the accounts included in the Qualifying Household Balance, benefits, reimbursement amounts, deadlines, service levels, third-party providers, or the process for entering or leaving Betterment Plus. Betterment has the right to refuse or to recover a reimbursement, discount, or other benefit if Betterment determines that it was obtained through fraud, misuse, inaccurate or incomplete information, or a violation of these Terms and Conditions or the Client Agreements.

Betterment Plus benefits are subject to the Client Agreements, Betterment’s Privacy Policy, and any additional terms or disclosures presented when you use a particular benefit. Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Betterment Plus does not guarantee investment performance, account availability, or any particular financial outcome.
