New Customer Self-Directed Investing Offer Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions for new Betterment clients to receive a $100 bonus in their self-directed investing account.

Updated August 31, 2026

If you are a new Betterment client (i.e., you do not have an existing Betterment account), to fulfill this offer, you must (1) open an individual self-directed investing account (an “SDI Account”) on the Betterment platform, (2) enroll in the Betterment Self-Directed Investing Offer (the “SDI Bonus”), and (3) complete new deposits (from a linked bank or investment account outside of Betterment) totaling at least $2,500 into your new SDI Account (a “Qualifying Deposit”) by 11:59:59 PM ET on October 22, 2026 (the “Offer Period”), inclusive of the required settlement time (typically 2-3 business days). Deposits into Betterment Cash Reserve or into a joint or trust SDI Account and transfers from Betterment Cash Reserve or a Betterment managed investing account into an SDI Account are not eligible for the SDI Bonus. This offer is limited to a single SDI Account, you are not eligible to receive additional bonuses for opening multiple SDI accounts. If you successfully enroll in the offer and you complete a Qualifying Deposit into an SDI Account, Betterment will provide an SDI Bonus of $100 into your SDI Account on or around October 29, 2026 (the “Bonus Date”), provided that you have not withdrawn funds such that less than $2,500 of your Qualifying Deposit remains in your SDI Account prior to the Bonus Date.

This offer is only available to new Betterment clients, is non-transferrable, and is available to U.S. residents only. This offer is not valid with any other offers (including the Tiered Investing Reward) and is not available to Betterment Advisor Solutions advised clients, 401(k) plan participants, nor Betterment employees.

The SDI Bonus is not a recommendation of any investment or investment strategy, not a recommendation to buy or sell any security, and is not a recommendation that a customer rollover or transfer assets into a Betterment SDI Account. By participating in the SDI Bonus, you represent that neither Betterment nor any Betterment affiliate has made a recommendation that you invest in or open a Betterment SDI Account, purchase or sell any security, or rollover or transfer assets to Betterment. Cash that you deposit into your SDI Account is held through the Cash Sweep Program (as described in the Cash Sweep Addendum to the Betterment Client Agreements) and does not earn interest.

Betterment reserves the right to terminate this offer or limit the SDI Bonus you are eligible to receive at any time for any reason without notice, and to refuse or recover any SDI Bonus amount if Betterment determines that it was obtained under wrongful or fraudulent circumstances, that any rules or regulations would be violated, or that any terms of the Betterment Account Agreements have been violated.

See Betterment's Self-Directed Investing disclosure and Form ADV Part II for additional information, including details on the deposit allocation methodology.
